The Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, FNSE, today received the leadership of the Lagos State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), led by Comrade Sunday Ogunfowora, in a high-level meeting focused on strengthening institutional collaboration.
During the meeting, Engr. Akinajo reflected on LAMATA’s evolution, noting that the agency’s vision—initiated under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State—remains highly relevant and actively pursued.

She emphasized the importance of civic responsibility, calling on NULGE and its members to support efforts aimed at preserving the integrity of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. According to her, BRT lanes are designated primarily for high-capacity buses to ensure the safe, efficient, and timely movement of large numbers of commuters.
“The BRT lanes are meant to prioritize mass transit and improve mobility across the city. Compliance with established transport regulations is essential for achieving this goal,” she stated.
Both parties concluded the meeting with a shared commitment to fostering partnerships that will enhance transport regulation, improve commuter experience, and deliver mutual benefits for public sector workers and the wider Lagos community.
