The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has officially commenced the payment of compensation to tenants affected by the land acquisition for the Blue Line Depot at Okokomaiko.
The payment exercise, which began on Wednesday, will continue through Friday to ensure that all verified tenants receive their entitlements in a timely manner. While the current phase focuses on tenant relocation assistance, LAMATA confirmed that high-level discussions with landlords are ongoing, with their respective compensation expected to be finalized soon.
The exercise is being closely monitored by Mrs. Ibironke Omorhirhi and Mr. Ayodipupo Quadri, who are representing LAMATA to ensure a smooth and transparent process.
This compensation exercise marks a significant milestone toward the completion of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line Phase Two project. The project, which will extend rail services from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko, is currently under active construction and remains on track for its scheduled completion.
By addressing the welfare of Project Affected Persons (PAPs), the Lagos State Government and LAMATA continue to demonstrate their commitment to a socially responsible approach in delivering an integrated, efficient, and multimodal transport system for Lagosians.
