The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) is taking bold steps to transform its transit advertising ecosystem into a world-class, digitally enabled, and environmentally compliant media platform.
As part of this strategic drive, LAMATA will host a specialized stakeholder workshop for out-of-home advertising practitioners on June 3, 2026, aimed at introducing a new era of sustainable, ethical, and innovation-driven transit advertising in Lagos State.

The workshop is designed to advance several critical objectives that align with the broader vision of Lagos as a smart and globally competitive megacity. It will provide a platform to strengthen collaboration with industry stakeholders while promoting high ethical, operational, and environmental standards across advertising infrastructure within the public transport ecosystem.
The initiative also reflects LAMATA’s commitment to sustainable urban development and climate-conscious transportation systems. By encouraging environmentally responsible advertising practices and modern digital solutions, the Authority continues to position Lagos as a regional leader in sustainable infrastructure and urban innovation.
In addition, the workshop will support the development of stronger and more strategic partnerships with brands and advertising operators whose values align with the mission of improving public transportation services and commuter experiences across the State.

Importantly, the initiative forms part of LAMATA’s broader strategy to secure long-term sustainability for public transportation through innovative, non-fare revenue generation. By advancing digital transformation and improving data capabilities within the transit advertising sector, the Authority aims to unlock new commercial opportunities that will contribute to the maintenance, modernization, and expansion of transport infrastructure throughout Lagos.
Through this engagement, LAMATA is actively transitioning from conventional advertising models to a smarter, data-driven system that delivers greater value to businesses while supporting safer, cleaner, and more efficient mobility for millions of daily commuters.
The Authority remains committed to fostering innovation, sustainability, and stakeholder collaboration in building an integrated transport system that meets the needs of a growing megacity of over 20 million inhabitants.
