ABIOLA ALABA AJAYI

Abiola Alaba Ajayi started her legal career in private practice between 1996 to 1999 before joining the Lagos State Ministry of Justice as a State Counsel in March 2000.

She holds a of Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife (1993), Barrister at Law (B.L) from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos (1995), and a Master of Law (LL.M) from the University of Lagos, Akoka (2014) and became an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Nigeria Branch) in 2022

Rising through the ranks and now a Director in the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Ajayi has worked in different departments in the Ministry of Justice. Her first post was in the Directorate of Legislative Drafting until she was drafted to be part of the pioneer team of State Counsel for the Office of the Public Defender where she later became the Head of the Onikan Unit. From there she was moved to the Directorate of Public Prosecution, and thereafter to the Directorate of Commercial Law where she was involved in the preparation of Commercial Agreements, participation in complex commercial transactions and handling of cases on behalf of the State Government.  She is very outgoing and happily married and blessed with two children.
