The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has moved a step closer to completing the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line infrastructure following a critical stakeholder engagement with tenants of properties located at the proposed Blue Line depot site at Okokomaiko.

The meeting, held at the palace of the Oniba of Iba Kingdom, HRM Oba (Dr.) Sulaimon Raji Adeshina (Asade I), brought together LAMATA officials, traditional leadership, and Project Affected Persons (PAPs). In attendance were the Oniba of Iba Kingdom, senior representatives from LAMATA, and Dr. Babatunde Osho, Managing Director of Global Impact Environmental Consulting.

During the engagement, moderated by the Head of Corporate Communication, Mr. Kolawole Ojelabi, and the Rail Project Manager, Engr. Abidemi Atobatele, the delegation provided detailed information on the scope of the depot project and the transparent procedures for accessing compensation. Tenants were informed that to facilitate the processing of their claims, they are required to present an official Project Affected Persons (PAP) card issued during the earlier enumeration exercise as well as a tenancy rent payment receipt from their landlord.
They are also expected to submit recent passport photographs and a valid means of official identification

To ensure a smooth transition for affected residents, LAMATA announced that the disbursement of compensation will commence next week, running from Wednesday through Friday.

Addressing the gathering, Oba Sulaimon Raji Adeshina appealed for full cooperation with the Lagos State Government to ensure the successful delivery of the rail project. He further encouraged tenants with grievances or special appeals to channel them through his palace, assuring them that such matters would be communicated to the management of LAMATA and the Executive Governor of Lagos State.

The engagement underscores LAMATA’s commitment to a people-first approach in the execution of its transport infrastructure projects, ensuring that urban development is pursued alongside social responsibility and stakeholder inclusion.
