In further recognition of her significant contributions to the Lagos transport ecosystem, the Managing Director of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Engr. (Mrs.) Abimbola Akinajo, has been conferred with a Distinguished Fellowship of the Courier and Logistics Management Institute (CLMI).
The honour was announced during a courtesy visit by the leadership of CLMI to LAMATA, where the Institute also sought strategic collaboration with the Authority to advance professional standards in Nigeria’s transport and logistics sector.
Speaking during the visit, the Executive Chairman of CLMI, Professor Simon Emeje, commended LAMATA for its transformative impact on the Lagos transport landscape. He praised the Authority’s professional leadership and acknowledged its pivotal role in strengthening the national economy through improved operational standards and transport reforms.
The highlight of the engagement was the formal invitation extended to Engr. (Mrs.) Akinajo to be invested as a Distinguished Fellow of the Institute. The prestigious award will be formally conferred at the CLMI 2026 International Conference and Investiture Ceremony later this year.
According to the Institute, the fellowship recognises individuals who have significantly advanced the nation’s economic frontiers through industrial growth, innovation, and developmental initiatives.
Beyond the conferment, CLMI presented a comprehensive proposal for collaboration aimed at further professionalising the LAMATA workforce. The proposed areas of partnership include capacity building in logistics management, professional membership opportunities, corporate consultancy services, and strategic advisory support leveraging the Institute’s expertise.
In her response, Engr. (Mrs.) Akinajo expressed appreciation to the Institute for the honour and the commendation of LAMATA’s progress. She reiterated the Authority’s unwavering commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in service delivery to Lagosians.
The Managing Director assured the delegation that the collaboration proposals would be thoroughly reviewed, stressing that any partnership must align with LAMATA’s mandate to deliver a world-class, integrated, and sustainable transport system for Lagos State.
