The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) wishes to issue a Caveat Emptor to the general public—especially schools, educational institutions, and organized groups—regarding excursions on any of our transport facilities, including the LRMT Rail Services.

We categorically state that LAMATA does not charge any fees, levies, or administrative costs for processing or approving requests for school or group excursions. Approvals for such visits are entirely free of charge.

Institutions intending to organize excursions using LAMATA infrastructure or services are required to follow a simple but mandatory procedure:

Submit an official request letter to the Managing Director of LAMATA specifying the proposed date, time, route, and number of participants.

Obtain a formal approval letter from LAMATA management before the commencement of the trip. This approval is crucial for effective logistics coordination and to ensure safety.

Any demand for payment—beyond the regular Cowry Card fares applicable to individual commuters—should be considered fraudulent. Members of the public are strongly advised to disregard such requests and avoid dealing with unauthorized persons.
