The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) today marked a major infrastructure milestone with the formal handover of a newly completed office complex to the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC).
The ceremony highlights the state government’s commitment to responsible development, strategic partnership, and infrastructural renewal in Lagos State.
The new building was constructed to replace the former EKEDC facility, which was removed to pave the way for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line.
During the ceremony, the Managing Director of LAMATA, Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo represented by the Technical Adviser, Public Transport Rail, Engr. Olasunkanmi Okusaga stated that the handover serves as a fulfillment of the promise by the Lagos State Government, through LAMATA, to ensure that stakeholders affected by the ambitious Blue Line project were adequately compensated and supported.
The newly constructed edifice is a testament to that commitment. The modern office complex comprises 43 functional offices, six spacious halls, 18 well-fitted toilets, and a generator house, all designed to meet EKEDC’s operational needs and enhance service delivery to the people of Lagos State.

LAMATA expressed deep appreciation to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, whose visionary leadership continues to drive infrastructural renewal and ensures development is carried out with compassion and strategic foresight.
Gratitude was also extended to the Lagos State House of Assembly, ably led by the Rt. Hon. Dr. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, for their consistent legislative backing and oversight necessary for the smooth execution of such projects.
The management of EKEDC led by Mrs Rekhiat Momoh was thankful to the state government for fulfilling their promise.
The handover signifies more than the completion of a building; it represents partnership, continuity, and the unwavering determination to build a better, more functional Lagos.
The Managing Director of Ebun Links Engineering Limited, Engr. John Laoye expressed gratitude to the Lagos State Government, LAMATA and EKEDC for their cooperation and support to achieve the prompt delivery of the complex.
