The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) today continued its engagement with residents of a parcel of land identified for the siting of the depot for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line at Okokomaiko.

The engagement, led by the Technical Adviser, Rail Transport, Engr. Olasunkanmi Okusaga focused on sensitizing the project affected persons on the commencement of compensation payments starting with the tenants to accelerate the acquisition of buildings located on the proposed depot site.

Engr. Okusaga expressed appreciation to the residents for their patience and cooperation throughout the process, reaffirming that the Lagos State Government’s commitment to delivering a world-class transportation system for the state remains unwavering.

In response to requests from project-affected persons to expedite the compensation process, Engr. Okusaga assured the community that the process would be made less cumbersome to ensure prompt and timely disbursement.

Also speaking at the engagement, the Consultant on the Resettlement Action Plan implementation, Engr. Babatunde Osho, outlined the compensation procedures and assured property owners that they would receive fair and just compensation for their buildings, which the government is acquiring in the overriding public interest.

He also informed that compensation would be disbursed in phases to give adequate for relocation of the project affected persons.
