LAGOS RAIL MASS TRANSIT - RED LINE AND ASSOCIATED INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECT
The Lagos State Government (LASG) through Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) is on the verge of commencing the construction of a 37- km North-South Rail road project tagged the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line. When fully operational, the Red Line will have the capacity to move more than one million passengers daily. The first phase of the project (Oyingbo to Agbado) will have stations at Oyingbo, Yaba, Mushin, Oshodi, Ikeja, Agege, Iju and Agbado.
The construction works will inevitably affect some persons, businesses, premises and structures along the LRMT Red Line Right of Way (RoW). In line with the commitment of the LASG to protect the interest and welfare of its citizens and international best practices, LASG is committed to the compensation of all persons, businesses, premises and structures affected by the project (Project Affected Persons – PAPs). Necessary enumerations and assessment had been carried out by the consultant (Nolasimbo Consulting Engineers and Partners Ltd & Global Impact Environmental Consulting Ltd.) engaged by LAMATA for the identification of PAPs along the Red Line RoW.
LAMATA now wishes to bring to public notice the list of PAPs, businesses and properties along the Red Line RoW for the Ikeja Station, Overpass and Pedestrian Bridge (Ikeja Railway Station, Awolowo Way/Abule Egba Expressway, Aro Omoba Street/Balogun Street). The list is also available for public verification/review at the Ikeja Local Government Secretariat and the notice boards strategically located along Awolowo Way, Ikeja from 23rd December 2020 to 6th January 2021. The list can be viewed at: www.lamata-ng.com
It is important to note that this is the List that will be used for the purposes of compensation and resettlement of PAPs. PAPs and other stakeholders who may have comments, and or observations about the List of PAPs posted are enjoined to document/lodge their complaints in writing at the office of LAMATA or Secretary to Ikeja Local Government Area. PAPs and other stakeholders should obtain acknowledgement copies of their submissions and keep same as evidence. PAPs and other stakeholders may also make phone call to: Engr. K. Atobatele – 08033036037, Mr K. Ojelabi – 08038556452 and or send email to firstname.lastname@example.org within two weeks from the date of this publication, i.e. from 23rd December, 2020 to 6th January 2021.
