PRESS RELEASE

We’ll give Lagos World-class transport system
– Dr. Mobereola, LAMATA boss

Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola pledged the Lagos State Government commitment to give Lagos a world-class transport system.

Addressing bus pilots and officers and other operatives of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, said delivering a world-class bus network will involve ambition and a determination to make things happen as well as an environment of trust and co-operation among delivery partners.

Dr. Mobereola said change was already underway and this can be seen in the BRT Mile12-CMS scheme launched on the 17th March 2008. The BRT is already proving successful with very positive feedback and increase daily patronage of more than 140,000 riders.

Technical Advisor, LAMATA, Engr. Gbenga Dairo addressing the bus pilots and officers and other BRT operatives.

He said the state government considered partnership with all stakeholders including the passengers to be critical for the success of the scheme.

Dr. Mobereola explained that this would require a commitment from the public sector to the delivery of infrastructure investment and traffic management while in return, the bus operator would deliver quality passenger services through a clear commitment to providing reliable, clean and punctual services. Passengers on the other hand must pay the full fare as designed to ensure the sustainability of the system.

He enjoined members of the public to make constant use of its feedback platform by calling 01-2805000 or send SMS to 07030040003. Members of the public could also send email to brtfeedback@lamata-ng.com
